The Gorey Craft and Design Festival was officially opened on Thursday the 2nd of August at the Civic Square on the Avenue. With rumours abounding that Gorey Town Council Vice Chairman, Bernard Crosbie would be parachuted in, guests found that arriving by car was much more to his liking!!!!. In a jam packed evening the Vice Chairman in the absence of Michael Darcy Snr opened the AIB Photojournalism Exhibition, Spindle & Bowl, Made in Wexford and Goreycreative Craft Gallery in front of a well attended series of audiences. The Festival now in its fourth year has a very firm family focus with a range of exhibitions, workshops, music, market fairs, and much much more. In addition to FREE music on the Main Street over the three nights, the festival also sees the staging of the first ever outdoor fashion show on Esmonde Street With the great and the good at the official opening, hopes are high that that they will be joined by many many more at this event and others throughout the evening. With extensive free car parking on all streets and in public car parks throughout the weekend this promises to be the biggest event in North Wexford in 2012. |
